Check-in with your teens

As adults, this time of year brings on lots of stressors. We often forget, in the midst of our gift buying, party planning, and family entertaining, that our teens are also in a stressful time. It is this time of year that some high school seniors are finding out if they’ve been accepted to their top choice colleges. Other students are cramming for finals, some with the added layer of homesickness. This time of year also has the effect of inflating the normal day-to-day stresses of being a teen to a level that can be unbearable. In other words, we need to take care of our teens!

At KidPowerment, we find it helpful to frame our teen classes around a quote or a mantra. We introduce the quote or mantra during the opening part of the class, create our asana sequences around it’s energetic purpose, and even choose pranayama practices that connect the breath with the mantra or quote.

Here are some of our favorite mantras and quotes that we find really connect with teenagers.
