Teaching Yoga to Teens *Online Edition*

The Unique World of Teens

The teen years hold the potential to lay the foundations for a life that is filled with self love, compassionate relationships, and confident exploration of what the world has to offer. . . Adolescence laying the ground work of how to move forward fully into “Adult Essence” as Dr. Dan Siegel says.

Tree pose circle.jpg

While on the surface it seems that classes for teens are really just adult yoga classes taught to groups of high schoolers, a deep and effective class for this age group contains components that can take the teens experience of yoga to the next level.

We will focus on ages 13-18 as we explore asana practices to:

  • create strength

  • calm the nervous system

  • encourage embodiment

Examine the physical, mental and emotional changes that occur during these years to learn how to better sequence classes that honor the natural rhythm of teens.

Teens also come with their own set of challenges regarding behavior, classroom management and boundary setting.  We will discuss effective ways to address challenging situations so that classes are successful, and feel safe and accessible for all of your students.

Join us as we discuss and create together classes that not only teach teens to make healthy choices, but also build resilience , foster compassion for themselves and others, and inspire students to make brave and bold choices as change making citizens of the world.
